Dr. Christian Ibraheem

Dr. Christian Ibraheem is a Gold Coast local, who is an Australian-trained Fellow of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons, having completed his Fellowship in General Surgery. He then had the great privilege of completing a further subspecialty Fellowship in Upper Gastrointestinal, Bariatric and Endocrine Surgery. Dr Ibraheem completed 2 years of fellowship, the first being through the Gold Coast University Hospital, Gold Coast Private Hospital and Pindara Hospital. His second fellowship year was completed through The Northern Hospital in Victoria where he was able to learn and perform a large volume of oesophagogastric and endocrine surgeries.

Dr. Christian Ibraheem graduated from the School of Medicine & Surgery at Griffith University in 2012. He also holds a Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Science degree and a Master of Pharmacy. Dr Ibraheem completed his internship/residency through the Gold Coast University Hospital and principal house officer training through Royal Brisbane Women’s Hospital where he successfully gained a position on the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons SET trainee program for General Surgery. He was based through the Gold Coast University Hospital hub but also serviced multiple areas of Queensland including regional Queensland including Mackay and Rockhampton. Throughout his extensive training, he developed an interest in complex Upper Gastrointestinal/Bariatric and Endocrine Surgery.

Under the tutelage of eminent senior surgeons, Dr. Christian Ibraheem is trained to perform:

• Oesophagogastric & hepatobiliary malignancy resections including oesophagectomy (2-stage and 3-stage), gastrectomy (total, subtotal & distal) and pancreatectomy (whipple and distal pancreatectomy).

Benign upper gastrointestinal surgery, including laparoscopic antireflux surgery, hiatal hernia surgery and treatment for achalasia.

Bariatric surgery, including laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy, gastric bypass, SADI-S (Single Anastomosis Duodenoileostomy with Sleeve Gastrectomy) and endoscopic balloons for weight loss surgery.

Endocrine surgery, including thyroidectomy, parathyroidectomy and laparoscopic adrenalectomy.

Interventional endoscopic procedures.

After obtaining his FRACS in general surgery in 2022, Dr. Christian Ibraheem went on to receive further training as a fellow in HPB/Bariatric Surgery (doing high-volume complex pancreatic and liver surgery) at Gold Coast University Hospital and completed a second fellowship year in Upper Gastrointestinal/Bariatric Surgery and Endocrine Surgery at the Northern Hospital in Victoria, performing large volume oesophagogastric and endocrine surgery.

Dr. Christian Ibraheem commenced consultant practice in 2024 in Queensland’s Metro South Hospitals, mainly based at QEII, Gold Coast Private Hospital and Pindara Private Hospital.

Dr. Christian Ibraheem Ibraheem is currently on committees locally and nationally and holds the responsibility for improving patient care safety/standards and improving education for junior doctors and future surgeons. He is currently pending approval to be made an Associate Professor at Griffith University School of Medicine and Dentistry in 2023 for his work in research and teaching.

Dr. Christian Ibraheem is available for consultation on the above subspecialty areas, along with all general surgical services such as laparoscopic gallbladder and biliary tract surgery, hernia surgery, emergency/trauma surgery, appendicectomy and endoscopy (gastroscopy and colonoscopy, both diagnostic and interventional), to name a few. Dr Ibraheem is proud to work closely with a network of surgeons, physicians and oncologists throughout Southeast Queensland and Victoria, allowing for up-to-date multi-disciplinary care. This ensures that patients will be receiving the highest standard of sub-specialist care.
